Democracy Kiosks: Collective Voices

Participatory experimental music workshops for young people to explore the themes of democracy as a part of Frankfurt's World Design Capital year in 2026

Collective Voices is a participatory workshop and concert that explores themes of democracy, political engagement, and collective transformation through sound and performance art, delivered in the re-decorated "Democracy Kiosks" across the Rhine-Main region as part of WDC 2026.

Led by members of Chroma Kollektiv, the project invites the audience to actively participate in the creative process, starting with some participatory pieces from the Fluxus movement and ending in a devised improvisation piece for the ensemble shaped by the audience.

The workshops and concerts build on the ideas and work of Pauline Oliveros, Alison Knowles and Cornelius Cardew that challenge traditional boundaries of performance, urging participants to consider the power of their voice and action in the context of political agency.

Democracy Kiosks is a project by Lust auf besser leben, initiated by designer Elisabeth Budde, Director RheinMain of the German Design Club (DDC), and Felix Kosok, former member of the DDC board.
