Leh-Qiao Liao

Leh-Qiao Liao was born and raised in Germany to Taiwanese parents. From an early age he was passionate about contemporary music as a violinist and pianist, performing with Studio Musikfabrik, the youth ensemble of Ensemble Musikfabrik, and twice at the Darmstadt Summer Courses. He is the founder and artistic director of the INprogRES Ensemble, a young new-music ensemble with which he has performed at the Moers Festival and the Festival Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte in Montepulciano. Music education is especially close to his heart, and he constantly seeks new ways to inspire children and young people for contemporary music. During his studies he worked with various orchestras and ensembles, including the Düsseldorf Symphony, the Filarmonica de Stat Dinu Lipatti Satu Mare in Romania, Ensemble Musikfabrik, the Remix Ensemble, the International Contemporary Ensemble and the JACK Quartet.
He received important impulses from masterclasses with Peter Rundel. Leh-Qiao Liao is also interested in contemporary vocal music and has collaborated with the Rheinstimmen Ensemble in Düsseldorf. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in orchestral conducting with Rüdiger Bohn at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf.
Leh-Qiao Liao is a scholarship holder of the Akademie Musiktheater heute.
