Sarah Beth Overcash
The violinist Sarah Beth Overcash was born in Memphis, Tennessee. She began violin lessons at the age of four with Ray Cheng, who also built her violin. She recently completed her Master of Music in violin at the University of Southern California, where she studied with Glenn Dicterow. During her time at USC, Sarah Beth Overcash was a member of the Thornton Edge Ensemble. During her bachelor's studies at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she studied with David Bowlin, she received the Louis and Annette Kaufman Music Achievement Award in violin. There she was also one of the co-founders and board members of the organization ›Students for Gender Inclusivity in Music‹. In 2019 she had the honour of being invited to the OSGIM Phlox Ensemble project, which performed works by trans, female and non-binary composers. In autumn 2020 she made numerous recordings as a member of the Oberlin Conservatory's Contemporary Music Ensemble. During her studies there she was also a member of the Sacred Heart concert series, founded by her colleague Johnum Palado. Sarah Beth Overcash has performed at several music festivals, including the Prizm Chamber Music Festival, the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, the Colorado College Music Festival and the Spoleto Music Festival in Charleston, South Carolina, as well as at the Music Academy of the West and as a member of the Lucerne Festival Academy. She recently performed in projects with the Santa Barbara Symphony, Ensemble Modern, KOMMAS Ensemble and Ensemble Reflektor.
