Tomás Jesús Ocaña-González
Málaga, 1999. He is a Spanish composer and clarinetist whose artistic activity focuses on a continuous fluctuation between writing and performing contemporary music.
He completed both Bachelor's degrees at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Málaga before moving to Germany to pursue a Master's degree in Composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main, with the support of scholarships from the Fundación Málaga, the Fundación Rincón, and the Deutschlandstipendium. During the 2024/25 season, he completed a Master's degree in Clarinet Performance at the Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie.
Among his distinctions, the most important are the 1st Prize „Xavier Montsalvatge“ at the 32nd SGAE-CNDM Young Composers Competition (2021), the 2023 Recognition of Educational Excellence for his Bachelor studies in Composition (nominated by the Málaga Conservatory of Music), and two first prizes in the „José Andreu Navarro“ Composition Competition for Chamber Orchestra (2021 and 2025).
Tomás has performed and his works have premiered in venues such as New York, Washington D.C. (as part of the Spanish Young Music Talent project), Berlin, Madrid, Lucerne, Graz, and Utrecht. During the 2022/23 season he was Composer-in-Residence at JM Spain, and during the 2025/26 season Composer-in-Residence at the Royal Spanish Academy in Rome.
